Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a physical and financial audit of the Mughal Road to ascertain the reasons behind its poor maintenance.
The strategic Mughal Road provides alternate connectivity to Kashmir with rest of the country. “The governor expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the Mughal Road and directed the PWD to undertake a physical and financial audit to fix responsibility for the poor maintenance of this strategic road,” an official said after Vohra chaired a high-level meeting here yesterday.
Recalling his recent journey on the Mughal Road, the governor said the strategic link was in poor condition, causing great inconvenience to commuters.
Commissioner Secretary of Public Works Department Khurshid Ahmad Shah informed the governor that various measures are being taken to make Mughal Road an all-weather link.
