The piercing cold prevailed in Himachal Pradesh today. Night temperatures remained low at most places.
Life in the high-altitude tribal areas moved at a snail’s pace as the mercury was recorded between -14 and -20 deg C.
Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti had a low of -7.7 deg C. Kalpa, Manali, Bhuntar and Sundernagar shivered at -1, -0.4 and 0.7.
Solan quivered at 3 degrees, Palampur 4.5, Una 5, Shimla 6.7, Dharamsala 7.4 and Nahan 8.7.
Thick ground frost occurred at many places in the mid hills. Water pipes froze and burst, disrupting water supply.
The MeT office predicted dry weather in the region upto January 22 and rains, thundershower or snow at isolated places on January 23.
