CM Kejriwal gives ex gratia to kin of Bawana fire victims

Featured National News

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today met the families members of the victims of Bawana fire incident and handed over ex gratia cheques to them.

As many as 17 people, including 10 women, were killed in the blaze at a firecracker factory in Bawana Industrial area.

“The chief minister distributed compensation cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to families of 17 people who died in the incident,” an official said, adding he also assured them of all possible help from the government.

The AAP government has blamed the BJP-run civic body for the incident.

In its preliminary report, the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) said that it does not have any regulatory functions nor is mandated to issue any type of license or permission for factory construction.

Citing the report, Delhi Industries Minister Satyendar Jain had said the responsibility of issuing license and approving building plans lies with the municipal corporations and they should have taken care of it.
